Biography

​

Steve Campbell (1968) was born and raised in Broken Hill NSW. Early influences included the Brushmen of the Bush and his Aunt, artist Pat Coffey.

 

Steve studied Visual arts at Nepean College of advanced Education (1985-1988) and Art History and Criticism at The University of Western Sydney (1993-1995), graduating as an Art Teacher, marrying Leona and moving to London the same year.

Returning to Sydney in 1997, Steve continued his career as a high school art teacher, pausing in 2005 to move to the USA.

​

While in the USA, Steve opened 2 art galleries and painted full-time, successfully exhibiting for 3 years both in solo, group and juried shows. Supplementing his painting income with occasional teaching and various jobs in construction and marketing.

​

Upon returning to Sydney in 2009, and now based in the Blue Mountains, West of Sydney, Steve became a member of several arts groups and successfully exhibited from his home studio as part of the Blue Mountains Arts Trail. 

​

Steve will be retiring from High School Teaching in 2022 to move to his farm in Leeton NSW to paint full-time again.
